The Shia and its great figures: Regarding Al-Nasawi, it is mentioned that Razeen said: I heard Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) saying: "O people of Iraq! Seven virgins from among you will be killed, their status similar to that of the Companions of the Trench." Then Hijr and his companions were killed.
Umar ibn Bashir said, "I asked Abu Ishaq, 'When did the people become humiliated?' He replied, 'When Hussein (peace be upon him) was killed, Ziyad was claimed, and Hujr ibn Adi was killed.'"
Hujr was among the most loyal companions of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), known for his knowledge, patience, courage, generosity, and eloquence. The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) had forewarned him about the fate that would befall him, which would lead to his death. Al-Mas'udi in his historical account, "Muruj al-Dhahab," states: In the year fifty-three, Muawiyah killed Hujr ibn Adi Al-Kindi. He was the first person in Islam to be executed while imprisoned. Ziyad sent him from Kufa along with nine of his companions from among the people of Kufa, and four others from elsewhere. When they were several miles away from Kufa, being led towards Damascus, his daughter lamented—without knowing anything about the situation—saying:
Rise, O luminous moon,
that you may see a grave moving.
Moving towards Muawiya bin Harb,
to kill him, as claimed by the prince.
And to crucify him at the gates of Damascus,
where eagles will feast on his beauty.
Evils were selected after the grave,
and Khawarnaq and Saddir scorned him.
O Hujr, Hujr of Banu Adi,
may peace and joy meet you.
I fear for you, lest Adi-dooms you,
along with the elder in Damascus whose roar is fierce.
O that Hujr had died a natural death,
and was not slaughtered like a camel.
For if you perish, every noble leader of a people
shall meet his end in this world eventually.

When they reached the outskirts of Dhura, twelve miles from Damascus, a messenger was sent ahead with their news to Muawiya. He then dispatched a one-eyed man. As this man approached Hujr and his companions, one of them remarked, "If the guide speaks truly, half of us shall be killed and the rest will survive." He was asked, "How do you know?" He said, "Don't you see the approaching man is missing an eye?" When the man arrived, he said to Hujr, "The Commander of the Faithful (meaning Muawiya) has ordered me to kill you, the head of misguidance, the origin of disbelief and tyranny, the supporter of Abu Turab, and to kill your companions unless you renounce your disbelief, curse your leader, and disavow him."
Hujr and some of those with him said, "Patience under the sword is easier for us than what you call us to. Coming to God, His Prophet, and His guardian is dearer to us than entering the Fire." Half of his companions complied, disavowing Ali (peace be upon him). When Hujr was brought forth to be executed, he said, "Let me pray two rak'ahs." He prolonged his prayer, so it was said to him, "Are you afraid of death?" He replied, "No, but I have never purified myself for prayer without performing it, and I have never prayed more quickly than this. How can I not be afraid when I see a grave dug, a sword unsheathed, and a shroud spread?" Then he was brought forward and killed. Those of his companions who agreed with him were also executed. It is said that their execution took place in the year fifty.
When Muawiya killed Hujr ibn Adi and his companions, he performed Hajj that year and met Al-Hussain ibn Ali (peace be upon them). Muawiya said, "O Abu Abdullah! Have you heard what we did to Hujr, his companions, his followers, and the supporters of your father?" Al-Hussain asked, "What have you done to them?" Muawiya replied, "We killed them, shrouded them, and prayed over them." Al-Hussain (peace be upon him) laughed and said, "They have defeated you, O Muawiya, but if we were to kill your followers, we wouldn't shroud them, pray over them, or even bury them. I have heard of your attacks on Ali (peace be upon him), your belittlement of us, and your criticism of Banu Hashim. When you do that, reflect upon yourself, ask your conscience about what is right, and if you do not find a greater flaw than what you are doing, then how small it is."

We have wronged you, O Muawiyah, do not tighten your bow except for your own goals, and do not cast hostility from a close distance, for indeed, by God, you have obeyed a man who neither advanced in Islam prior to you, nor is he newly acquainted with hypocrisy, and he does not look out for your interests. So, either take care of yourself or leave it as well, referring to Amr ibn al-As.
Among them was Kumayl ibn Ziyad, may God be pleased with him, who was among the close companions of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him). He was known for his piety and asceticism, and the supplication of Kumayl, which is recommended to be recited on the night of the middle of Sha'ban and on Friday nights, is attributed to him. It was taught to him by the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him). Sheikh Al-Mufid, may God have mercy on him, said: Jarir narrated from Al-Mughirah, who said: When Al-Hajjaj came to power, he searched for Kumayl ibn Ziyad, but he fled from him, resulting in Al-Hajjaj withholding stipends from Kumayl's people. When Kumayl saw this, he said: "I am an old man, and my life is nearing its end; it is not right for my people to be denied their stipends because of me." So he came out and surrendered himself to Al-Hajjaj. When Al-Hajjaj saw him, he said: "I always wanted to have an excuse against you." Kumayl replied: "Do not target me with your savagery and do not rush my demise, for by God, nothing remains of my life but what remains for you to sweep away the dust. So, rush to do what you intend, for the appointment is with God, and after death comes the reckoning. Indeed, the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) informed me that you would kill me." Al-Hajjaj said: "Then the proof is against you." Kumayl replied: "That is if the judgment were in your hands." Al-Hajjaj said: "Indeed, you were among those who attacked Uthman ibn Affan. Strike his neck." And they cut off his head, may God be pleased with him.
Ibn Abi Al-Hadid, in his commentary, states that Kamil ibn Ziyad ibn Nuhayl ibn Haytham ibn Saad ibn Malik ibn Harb was one of the companions and close supporters of Ali (peace be upon him). Al-Hajjaj killed him for his adherence to the creed among those Shiites whom he executed.

Among them is Qanbar—may Allah have mercy on him—the servant of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him). It was narrated from Abu al-Hasan Ali bin Muhammad that Qanbar, servant of the Commander of the Faithful, was brought before Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf. Al-Hajjaj asked him, "What were you responsible for under Ali bin Abi Talib's (peace be upon him) authority?" Qanbar replied, "I used to help him perform ablution." Al-Hajjaj then asked, "What would he say when he finished his ablution?" Qanbar answered, "He would recite this verse: 'But when they forgot what they were reminded of, We opened up to them the gates of everything until, when they were rejoicing in what they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were in despair. So the people who did wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'"
Al-Hajjaj asked if he interpreted the verse as referring to them, to which Qanbar responded, "Yes." Al-Hajjaj then inquired, "What will you do when your throat is struck?" Qanbar replied, "Then I will be happy, and you will be wretched." Consequently, Al-Hajjaj ordered his execution, and Qanbar was killed. May Allah have mercy on him.
Ibrahim ibn Al-Hussain Al-Husseini Al-Aqeeqi reported, saying: Al-Hajjaj asked Qanbar, the servant of Ali (peace be upon him): Who are you? He replied: I am the servant of the one who wielded two swords, and thrust with two spears, and prayed towards two Qiblas, and pledged two allegiances, and migrated twice, who never disbelieved in God for even the blink of an eye. I am the servant of the righteous believers, the inheritor of the prophets, the best of successors, the greatest of Muslims, the guardian of the faithful, the light of the striving, the leader of the weeping ones, the adornment of the worshippers, the guiding lamp of the gone by, the light of those who stand, the most excellent one among the obedient, and the tongue of the Messenger of God, Lord of the worlds.
The first of the believers from the family of Yaseen, supported by Gabriel the faithful, aided by the mighty Michael, praised by all the inhabitants of the heavens, the master of the Muslims and the foremost, the killer of those who broke their vows, the renegades, and the oppressors, and the defender of the sanctity of the Muslims. He struggled against his determined enemies, until he became the fearless hero, the daring lion, the full moon, the judge of the believers, the inheritor of the two sacred sites, the father of the two grandsons, Hasan and Husayn, by God, the rightful Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib. May God's pure blessings and exalted benedictions be upon him. When Al-Hajjaj heard this, he ordered his head to be cut off.

Among them is Sa'id ibn Jubayr, may Allah have mercy on him. He was one of the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and was martyred unjustly in the path of Allah. In the book "Rawdat al-Wa'izīn" by al-Fattal al-Naysaburi, it is mentioned that Abu Abdullah (peace be upon him) said: Sa'id ibn Jubayr used to pray behind Ali ibn al-Husayn (peace be upon him), and Ali used to praise him. The reason for his execution by al-Hajjaj was nothing but this matter, and he was steadfast.
It is mentioned that when he entered upon al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf, al-Hajjaj said: "Are you the wretched son of Jubayr?" Sa'id replied: "My mother knew me better; she named me Sa'id ibn Jubayr." Al-Hajjaj then asked, "What do you say about Abu Bakr and Umar? Are they in Paradise or in Hell?" Sa'id responded: "If I enter Paradise and see its people, I will know who is there, and if I enter Hell and see its people, I will know who is there." Al-Hajjaj then asked: "What do you say about the caliphs?" Sa'id replied, "I am not appointed over them." Al-Hajjaj asked: "Which of them is dearest to you?" Sa'id answered: "The one who is most pleasing to my Creator." Al-Hajjaj continued: "Which of them is most pleasing to the Creator?" Sa'id replied: "That knowledge rests with the One who knows their secrets and private conversations." Al-Hajjaj said: "You refuse to be truthful with me." Sa'id replied: "I did not wish to lie to you."
According to the narration by Al-Thaalabi, it is said that Al-Hajjaj asked Sa’id: "Choose, O Sa’id, how I should kill you." Sa’id replied: "You choose for yourself, Hajjaj, for by God, you will not kill me in any manner without God killing you in the same way in the Hereafter." Al-Hajjaj then asked: "Do you want me to pardon you?" Sa’id answered: "If there is to be pardon, it would be from God. As for you, there is no absolution or excuse." Al-Hajjaj then ordered: "Take him away and execute him." As Sa’id was leaving through the door, he laughed. Upon hearing this, Al-Hajjaj had him brought back and asked: "What made you laugh?"
Sa’id responded: "I am amazed at your boldness against God and God's patience with you." Al-Hajjaj then ordered the mat to be spread and said: "Kill him!" Sa’id declared: "I have turned my face towards the One who created the heavens and the earth, sincerely in faith, and I am not of the polytheists." Al-Hajjaj ordered: "Turn him away from the Qibla." Sa’id replied with the verse: "Wherever you turn, there is the face of God."
Al-Hajjaj then commanded: "Throw him on his face," and Sa’id responded: "From it..."

We created you from it, and into it We return you, and from it, We shall bring you out once again.
(1) Al-Hajjaj said, "Slaughter him!" Sa'id replied, "Indeed, I testify that there is no deity but Allah alone with no partner and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. Take this from me until you meet me with it on the Day of Resurrection." Then Sa'id prayed, "O Allah, do not give him power over anyone to kill after me." He was then slain on the execution block, may Allah have mercy on him. Whenever Al-Hajjaj slept, he would see Sa'id in his dream holding his garment and saying, "O enemy of Allah, for what have you killed me?" Al-Hajjaj would respond, "What do I have to do with Sa'id ibn Jubayr? What do I have to do with Sa'id ibn Jubayr?"

In "Tahdhib al-Kamal," it is reported that al-Hajjaj lived for fifteen more nights after that, and gangrene set in his abdomen. He called for a doctor to examine him. The doctor looked at him and then called for a piece of rotten meat, which he tied to a string and inserted into his throat. He left it there for a while, then pulled it out, and it was stained with blood. It was clear to him that he would not survive. It is reported that during the remaining days of his life, he would often call out, "What do I have against Saeed ibn Jubayr? Every time I wish to sleep, he grabs my leg."
Historians have narrated that Al-Hajjaj almost killed Yahya ibn Ya’mar for nothing more than his statement that Hasan and Husayn (peace be upon them) were the sons of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family). Harb ibn Abi Al-Aswad said: Al-Hajjaj sent for Yahya ibn Ya’mar and said, "It has reached me that you claim Hasan and Husayn are of the descendants of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family). Show me where this is in the Book of Allah, for I have read it from beginning to end and have not found it." Yahya replied, "Do you not read the Surah Al-An’am: 'And of his descendants, David and Solomon,' until it reaches 'and John and Jesus'?" He said, "Indeed." Yahya then asked, "Is Jesus not of the descendants of Abraham, though he had no father?" Al-Hajjaj replied, "You have spoken the truth."

In a narration by Al-Shaybani, it is said that Al-Hajjaj summoned Yahya ibn Ya'mar one day and intended to kill him. He said to Yahya, "Recite for me a verse from the Book of God that explicitly states that Alawites are the progeny of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family) or I will surely kill you. I do not want you to use His saying: 'Let us call our sons and your sons.'"
Yahya then recited to him the verse: "And of his descendants, David and Solomon," continuing until he said, "and Zechariah and John and Jesus." Yahya then asked, "So, is Jesus among the descendants of Noah on his father's side or his mother's?" Al-Hajjaj was dumbfounded, responded kindly to Yahya, and said, "It is as if I'm hearing this verse for the first time now."

Al-Mutawakkil ordered him to be whipped 1,000 lashes, not for any disgraceful act but simply because he narrated a virtue of Hasan and Husayn (peace be upon them). He narrated this noble hadith, saying: "Ali bin Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn bin Ali told me: My brother Musa bin Ja'far narrated from his father Ja'far bin Muhammad, from his father Ali bin Husayn, from his father, from his grandfather (peace be upon them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) took the hands of Hasan and Husayn and said: 'Whoever loves me, loves these two, and loves their father and mother, will be with me in my rank on the Day of Judgment.'"
Abu Abdulrahman Abdullah said: When this hadith was narrated by Nasr ibn Ali, Al-Mutawakkil ordered him to be beaten with a thousand lashes. Ja'far ibn Abdul Wahid interceded and said to him: "This man is one of the people of the Sunnah, do not punish him," until he was left alone.

He was a tutor for the children of the Abbasid caliph al-Mutawakkil. Al-Mutawakkil killed him after asking, "O Yaqub! Who is more beloved to you, my two sons or al-Hasan and al-Husayn?" He replied, "By God, even Qanbar, the servant of Ali (peace be upon him), is better than you and your sons." Al-Mutawakkil then ordered the Turks to pull out his tongue from the back of his head, and he died on Monday, the fifth of Rajab, in the year two hundred forty-four. According to another narrative, al-Mutawakkil ordered the Turks to crush his abdomen, and he was carried to his home, dying the following day.

The Twenty-First Council: The Martyrdom of Ja'far ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon them)
It was narrated from Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju'fi, from Abu Ja'far (peace be upon him) who said: Allah revealed...
Allah Almighty spoke to His Messenger, "I am grateful to Ja'far ibn Abi Talib for four characteristics." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) then called Ja'far and informed him, to which Ja'far replied, "If Allah, the Most Blessed and Exalted, had not informed you, I would tell you that I have never drunk wine because I knew that drinking it would impair my mind. I have never lied because lying diminishes one's integrity. I have never committed adultery because I feared that if I acted that way, it would be done to me. And I have never worshiped an idol because I knew that it neither harms nor benefits." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) then placed his hand on Ja'far's shoulder and said, "Truly, Allah Almighty has decreed that you will be given two wings with which you will fly with the angels in Paradise."
It is narrated from Sheikh Al-Tusi, may Allah have mercy on him, from Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) that he said to Fatimah (peace be upon her): "Our martyr is the best of martyrs, and he is your uncle. And among us is one whom Allah has given wings to fly with the angels, and he is your cousin."
Narrated by Abu Hazour, from Abu Ja'far (peace be upon him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "People were created from different trees, and I and the son of Abu Talib were created from one tree. My root is Ali, and my branch is Ja'far."
One day, Al-Asbagh ibn Nabata al-Hanzali said: I saw the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) when he entered Basra, riding the mule of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Then he said: O people, shall I not inform you of the best of things?

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari stood up and said, "Yes, O Commander of the Faithful, tell us, for you were witness to unseen matters." He replied, "The best among creation on the Day Allah gathers them will be seven from the descendants of Abdul Muttalib. Their virtue is denied only by a disbeliever and ignored only by a denier." Ammar ibn Yasir, may Allah have mercy on him, then stood up and said, "O Commander of the Faithful, name them for us so we may know them." He said, "The best among creation on the Day Allah gathers them will be the messengers, and the best of the messengers is Muhammad. Among every nation, after its prophet, the best is the prophet's successor until another prophet arrives. Indeed, the best of the successors is the successor of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family). The best after the successors are the martyrs, and the best of the martyrs are Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib and Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, who have been granted two wings with which they fly in Paradise. No one else from this nation has been gifted wings, an honor bestowed by Allah upon Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) to honor him; and the two grandsons, Hasan and Husayn, and the Mahdi (peace be upon him), whom Allah will designate from among us, the Ahl al-Bayt." Then he recited this verse:
"And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, they will be with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor: the prophets, the siddiqs, the martyrs, and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions. That is the favor from Allah, and sufficient is Allah as Knower." (1)
The narrator said: Ja'far ibn Abi Talib was the person who most resembled the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in both appearance and character. Ja'far was ten years older than Ali, while Aqeel was ten years older than Ja'far, and Talib was ten years older than Aqeel. Ja'far was among the first emigrants, as he migrated to Abyssinia. He returned from there to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when Khaybar was conquered. The Prophet (peace be upon him) received him, embraced him, and said: “I do not know which delights me more: the arrival of Ja'far or the conquest of Khaybar?” Ja'far and his companions returned from Abyssinia in the seventh year of Hijra. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) assigned him land next to the mosque. Ja'far participated in the Battle of Mu'tah in the eighth year of Hijra, where he fought until both his arms were severed and then he was killed. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Allah replaced his hands with wings with which he flies wherever he wishes in Paradise.” For this reason, he was called "Ja'far the Winged."

And Salam ibn Abi al-Ja'd said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was shown in a dream Ja'far ibn Abi Talib with two wings stained with blood.
Narrated Ibn Omar: We found on the front of Ja'far, between his chest and his shoulders, more than ninety wounds, some from sword strikes and others from spear thrusts. When the news of Ja'far's death reached the Prophet (peace be upon him), he went to the wife of Ja'far, Asma bint Umays, and consoled her for the loss of her husband. Fatimah (peace be upon her) entered while crying, saying, "Oh my uncle!" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "For the likes of Ja'far, the mourners should weep."
It is narrated from Imam Ja'far bin Muhammad (peace be upon them) that he said: Ja'far has a special status with Allah; he will fly with the angels in paradise.
And from him, Hisham bin Salim narrates, from Abu Abdullah (peace be upon him), who said: When Ja'far bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him) died, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) instructed Fatimah (peace be upon her) to prepare food for Asma bint Umays and to visit her with the other women. Thus, a tradition was established that food is to be made for the family of the deceased for three days.
Abbas bin Musa bin Ja'far narrates that he asked his father (peace be upon him) about mourning. He said: When the news of the martyrdom of Ja'far bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him) reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), he visited Asma bint Umais, the wife of Ja'far, and asked, "Where are my sons?" She called them over; they were three: Abdullah, Awn, and Muhammad. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) patted their heads.
Asma then said, "You are patting their heads as if they are orphans?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) was moved by her words and said, "O Asma! Did you not know that Ja'far, may Allah's pleasure be upon him, has been martyred?" She began to weep, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said to her, "Do not weep, for Gabriel has informed me that he has two wings in Paradise made of red ruby."
Asma then said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), if you gathered the people and informed them of Ja'far's virtue, his merit would never be forgotten." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) was again deeply moved and then said:

"Send food to the family of Ja'far," and it became a tradition.
When Ja'far ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) went to Asma and said to her: "Bring me the children of Ja'far." So they were brought to him, and he embraced them and smelled them, tears welling in his eyes. Asma then asked, "O Messenger of Allah, has Ja'far been martyred?" He replied (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), "Yes, he has been martyred today." Abdullah, the son of Ja'far, narrated: "I remember the moment when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) entered upon my mother and informed her of my father's death. I saw him wiping my head and my brother's head, and his eyes were filled with tears, dropping onto his beard. Then he said, 'O Allah, Ja'far has come to You with the best reward. So take care of his offspring in the best way You have cared for any of Your servants in their offspring.' Then he said, 'O Asma, shall I not bring you good news?' She replied, 'Yes, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you.' He said, 'Indeed, Allah, the Almighty, has granted Ja'far two wings with which he flies in paradise.'"
Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) received the news of the deaths of Ja'far ibn Abi Talib and Zaid ibn Harithah, he would often weep profusely whenever he entered his home, saying: "They used to converse with me and bring me comfort, and both have departed together."
Sheikh Muhammad Saeed Al-Mansouri said:
The chosen one foretold the cutting of the right and left of Ja'far and he sighed.
Then his sighs continued to follow, and his tears ran from his eyes, red.
He would recall the calamity and cry over Ja'far of goodness beyond what can be imagined.
When the greatest of people in rank, the strongest of servants in determination and patience,
Face such calamities, sadness over the affliction reaches its peak and beyond.

How was Hussein's state at the moment he arrived
To the brave and triumphant standard-bearer?
Could Hussein be blamed when he saw him,
As the iron rod had marked his head?
If he called, "O brother, O light of my eyes,
Your loss today is a break that cannot be mended."

Session Twenty-Two: The Martyrdom of Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib (peace be upon him)
It is mentioned in a letter written by the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) to Muawiyah: Indeed, there were people from the emigrants who were martyred in the way of Allah, each possessing a distinct virtue. Yet, when our martyr was killed, it was said: "Leader of the Martyrs," and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) particularly honored him with seventy Takbirs during his funeral prayer. Do you not realize that there were people who had their hands severed in the way of Allah, and each of them had their own virtue? But when one of us is treated as such, it was said: "The one who flies in Paradise," and "The one with two wings." And he (peace be upon him) continued the speech, saying: Among us is the Lion of Allah, while among you is the Lion of the Confederates.
Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) that he said to Fatima (peace be upon her): "Our martyr is the best of the martyrs and he is your uncle, and among us is he whom Allah granted two wings with which he flies alongside the angels, and he is your cousin."
It is narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) that he said: "From the riders on the Day of Resurrection will be my uncle Hamza, the Lion of Allah and His Messenger, on my she-camel, Al-Adba’."
It is narrated from Imam Al-Ridha from his forefathers (peace be upon them) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said: "The best of my brothers is Ali, and the best of my uncles are Hamza, and Al-Abbas is the equal of my father."
Anas ibn Malik reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "We, the descendants of Abdul-Muttalib, are the leaders of the people of Paradise: the Messenger of Allah, Hamza the master of the martyrs, Ja'far with the two wings, and Ali."

The Sukkuni narrated from Al-Sadiq, from his forefathers (peace be upon them), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "The dearest of my brothers to me is Ali ibn Abi Talib, and the dearest of my uncles to me is Hamza."
Al-Qaddah narrated from Ja'far, from his father (peace be upon them), who said: Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) said: "There are seven whom God Almighty created without equal on earth: among them the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), the master of the first and the last, the seal of the prophets; his successor, the best of successors; and his two grandsons, the best of grandsons: Hasan and Husayn; the master of martyrs, his uncle Hamza; the one who soared with the angels, Ja'far; and the Qa'im (peace be upon him)."
It is narrated about the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) that he said: "Hamza is the master of martyrs." It is also narrated: "The best of martyrs, and if his sister Safiyyah were not to find him, I would have left him unburied until he would be resurrected from the bellies of birds and beasts. On that day, he and his companions had been mutilated."
From the book "Al-Tarf" by Sayyid Ibn Tawus, may God sanctify his soul, as narrated from the book "Al-Wasiya" by Isa bin al-Mustafaad, from Musa bin Ja'far, from his father (peace be upon them), who said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) migrated to Medina and was about to depart for Badr, he called the people to pledge allegiance. They all pledged to listen and obey. Whenever the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was alone, he would call Ali and inform him about those who would fulfill their pledges and those who would not, and he asked him to keep this information confidential. Then, the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) called Ali, Hamza, and Fatima (peace be upon them) and said to them, "Pledge to me the pledge of satisfaction." Hamza asked, "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, for whom do we pledge? Haven't we already pledged?"
He said: "O Lion of God and His Messenger, you pledge to God and His Messenger to be faithful and steadfast for the sake of your nephew, then you will have completed your faith." He replied: "Yes, with hearing and obedience," and extended his hand. Then it was said to them: "The hand of God is above their hands. Ali is the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), Hamza is the Master of the Martyrs, and Ja'far is the Flying Martyr."

Paradise, and Fatimah is the mistress of the women of the worlds, and the two grandsons: Hasan and Husayn are the masters of the youth of the people of Paradise. This is a condition from Allah upon all Muslims, both jinn and humans alike. "So whoever breaks [his oath] only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah, He will give him a great reward."
Then he recited: "Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah."
He said: When it was the night of the day that Hamza was martyred, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) called him and said: "O Hamza! O uncle of the Messenger of Allah! It is near that you will soon go on a long journey. What will you say when you arrive before Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and He asks you about the laws of Islam and the conditions of faith?" Hamza wept and said: "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, guide me and explain to me."
He said, "O Hamza! Bear witness that there is no god but Allah sincerely, and that I am the Messenger of Allah in truth." Hamza replied, "I bear witness." He said, "And that Paradise is true, and Hellfire is true, and that the Hour is coming, without doubt, and that the path is true, and the balance is true, and whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it. A group will be in Paradise and a group will be in the blazing fire. And that Ali is the Commander of the Faithful." Hamza said, "I bear witness, I affirm, I believe, and I testify."
He continued, "The Imams from his descendants are Hasan and Husayn, and among his descendants." Hamza said, "I believe and testify." He added, "Fatima is the Mistress of the Women of the Worlds." He said, "Yes, I believe." He said, "Hamza is the Master of the Martyrs and the Lion of Allah and His Messenger, and the uncle of His Prophet," which made Hamza weep until he fell prostrate, and he kissed the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family).
He said, "Ja'far, your brother's son, is flying in Paradise with the angels, and that Muhammad and his family are the best of creation. Do you believe in their secrets, their outward and inward, living and dying by that, love those they love, and oppose those they oppose?" He said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, I bear witness to Allah, and I bear witness to you, and Allah is sufficient as a Witness." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said, "May Allah guide you and grant you success."
And it was narrated in the argument of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) against the people of the council: I entreat you.
